Project Overview

Pyramid in Hyde Park

To commemorate the return of Tutankhamun to London after 35 years and to highlight the variety of art and culture available across the capital, schoolchildren from around the world worked alongside internationally acclaimed pop artist Romero Britto in painting the panels for the 45ft pyramid.

On 5 July, hundreds of children from around the UK, Europe, and Egypt converged to The O2 with Romero Britto to paint sections of the pyramid. The children added their own personal style to Romero Britto's designs for two sides of the Pyramid by painting on large canvases which have been pre-printed with only the black outlines of the Britto Pyramid renderings.

All participating children will have their names inscribed in the steps of the pyramid, a permanent tribute to their participation in the project.

Intricate detail in the London’s pyramid designs will ensure that the sides and dimensions of the pyramid match the specifications followed by the ancients when the original Giza pyramids were erected thousands of years ago.
